- Background: Lona Lee Thull grew
up on a farm in Edgeley, North Dakota and attended college in Minnesota
majoring in accounting and computers. Lona has lived with her husband,
Edward, and their three children in Colorado since 1965. Mrs. Thull
began her travel career by working for the airlines in 1967. The combination
of her business background and her love for the travel industry resulted
in the birth of Friendly Cruises, Inc. a travel agency focusing on
cruises. The
business moved their USA Western Division Headquarters to Arizona
in 2002.
- Community involvement: Mrs. Thull
founded and formed the Parker Slo-Pitch Softball League in 1982 which
grew to over 1000 participants over the years, served as Vice President
of Parker Newcomers, has worked with 4-H youth clubs and Campfire
Girls, is a charter member of her church, and served as Parker Squares
Square Dance club first lady for a year. Friendly Cruises, Inc. sponsors
Parker, Colorado Community days activities and has been appointed
to the Colorado-Douglas County Cultural Council. Mrs. Thull also is
a 1998 Colorado Governor Roy Romer's appointee to the Colorado Small
Business Council.
